Been So Long

I could barely remember my ID and password.

Younger kid and GF are coming this weekend. Means I need to teach five barkers to rest their barks for a couple of days. Right now they are surrounding me asleep, not a bark among them.

I'm blogging at home on a work day as I'm between jobs. My boss on Tuesday gently informed me that my great effort to make things work at work would now get to be focused elsewhere. How is that for a nice way to put the five letter F word? So, next Tuesday, I get to start a new career managing litigation responses and building spending plans, at least until I can find something else to do for a living.

Could be worse. Watching the citizens of New Orleans shoot at their rescuers while part of the city burns reminds me of Iraq. Insurgents and refugees. I wonder if they will count in the death toll the future murders taking place due to the looting of guns. I realize I have no ability to understand what could cause people to need to do that. I can picture the city on fire, as more unhappy people voice their displeasure. I hope I'm wrong.

I got gas at a pump with $2.93 for premium, as that is what my car takes. As I pumped, the attendent was changing the number to something that started with a 3. Washington has a huge gas tax, but it is dwarfed by the differences in prices, as much as 25 cents a gallon between stations facing each other. The Safeway check person asked me not to buy Safeway gas, as it was being artifically inflated to take advantage of the unstable situation. Some looters are 3,000 miles from New Orleans. The worst looters are those who use the situation for personal or political gain. What's in it for me?

I guess the most important thing to say is life keeps working, despite much effort to the contrary, because much more effort is spent trying.
