About time

Noticed the publishing world warmed up its feet and actually made a comment or two about the fanatics. Although I got but one response comment to my blogs, I did get some personal notes from those who do not want to be identified as to how dangerous it was to blog about Islam. If that doesn't tell us we have a problem, I can't imagine what could. We can't be a bunch of Chamberlains, we need to be Churchills. Hiding will only help the other guys win.

Am I missing something?

The Islam world is condemning the Pope for calling them evil and inhumane. And, at the same time, they are proclaiming they will conquer the world and eliminate all other faiths, implying the people with the faiths as collatoral damage. Aren't they being exactly what the Pope is calling them? Also, where is the outrage over what crap they produce? Promising to kill all of us non Muslims is a bit more evil and inhumane than the Pope calling them. I looked for some anti-Muslim backlash, but couldn't find any. So, this is my quiet corner anti-Muslim backlash. If what they say happens, not only will they eliminate the rest of us, but they will also condemn half the world that's left, the female half, to a life of slavery. Even if the non-Muslims aren't complaining, the women should.

Bad Pope

Calling Muslims "evil" and "inhumane." Who would ever think that? The Muslims will probably kill a thousand people in protest just to prove him wrong. And since the Pope is infallable, he can't admit he made a mistake in order to be politically correct, even if he didn't.

Their complaint about being called inhumane kind of goes with the "Muslims Execute Nuns" article in the paper today. I wonder how many Muslim missionaries get executed by Catholics? Of couse, history doesn't favor Catholics, who invented "burned at the stake" for religious purposes.

When I was in Vietnam, we used to kill commies for Christ. Not exactly sound religious doctrine. I think "religious" people give religion a bad name.

So, are Muslims and Catholics religions, or just stereotyped cultures pretending to believe in a god.

To badly paraphrase a Bible passage and take it out of context. "The faith you have, keep between yourself and God." I like that passage, even if I mangled it.

My blood sugar is horribly screwed up due to way too much non-work things happening at work. So, if I don't sound like I'm running on all cylinders, trust me, I'm not.

Goodbye

Today our office secretary died.

She was a little lady, who's smile warmed up everyone in the morning, and whose power walks set an example for everyone. She loved her role as a secretary, taking care of the rest of us.

Even as her illness ravaged her, she never lost her smile, and her desire to be positive. Her last day a couple of months ago, she came to visit me in my cube, about a 50 foot walk, and rested for awhile, before reminding me of something I was supposed to do. She said it with a smile and a question, "You'll take care of it?" My response was, "I will." It was our last conversation.

Janet, I already miss you. And although I only knew you at work, your spirit was so much more. When I think of you, I smile, cause your smile is what you left me with. I don't think you could have done better.

Fare well.

Fires

Washington is on fire. We have fires on the west side this year, thanks to no rain for months. Also thanks to Senator Hargrove, who personally eliminated the juvenile youth camps, which produced 100-200 firefighters each year, except the one in his own district in Naselle. This was to save money so he could continue funding his pet project, forcing schools to call parents every day a kid missed for every day they missed. Now incarcerated juveniles are confined to facilities without this training program. This may have saved the state some money, but the fires are burning up the profits.

One is ten miles away, and the smoke is covering the neighborhood. One is about 30 miles away, and is just going to burn until the fall rain puts it out. The lack of firefighters is taking its toll here. So, thank you Senator.
